Titanium retaining rings for turbine blades in the aerospace and power generation industries
Specially designed cross-shaped retaining rings are a proven method of securing compressor and turbine blades to the rotating drum of modern aircraft engines, combining rapid assembly technology with reliable blade retention. Securing the blades at high speeds and high temperatures requires a durable yet lightweight ring design.
We use a proprietary method to machine wire or rod into sections that match engine geometry. The process significantly improves the mechanical properties of the rings compared to rings machined from sheet or forgings, including a very precise circumferential fit and enough elasticity to keep them in place at operating temperatures of up to 800°C.
Rings can be dynamically balanced for optimum rotational performance and are produced in a variety of clearance configurations, many of which are designed by Cross to meet the specifications of various engine manufacturers.
