Titanium concentric reducers are a type of pipe fitting used to change (reduce) pipe size to meet the hydraulic (or gas/steam) flow requirements of a system. They are used in district heating installations for either gas or liquid.
This type of fitting used to reduce pipe size is most often used for pipes in pump and pipe rack areas, with the open ends of the concentric reducer aligned and centered with each other. Typically, this type of reducer is used to change the inside diameter of a pipe by two (up to three) times to avoid excessive pressure drops in the pipe. If a more drastic reduction is required, a series of reducers should be used to adjust the pipe inside diameter size smoothly and gradually (rather than a sharp change).

Standards Performed
Titanium reducers are divided into concentric reducers and eccentric reducers, with specifications ranging from NPS 1/4 inch to 48 inches. Titanium reducers are produced in accordance with ASTM B363, ASME SB363, and ASME B16.9 size standards. Titanium reducers up to 4 inches (inclusive) are bent from seamless pipes, while larger titanium concentric reducers are welded from titanium plates, and all welds are 100% X-ray inspected.
