These custom anodes combine the catalytic properties of platinum with the mechanical strength and corrosion resistance of a titanium substrate. These formulations are typically used for hard chrome plating, precious metal plating (rhodium, platinum and gold baths), and applications that utilize the low anodic potential of platinum. Designed for use in plating baths for rhodium and palladium plating or acid gold solutions. Description of Platinum-coated Titanium Anode
The platinized titanium anode consists of a titanium anode coated with platinum or platinum metal oxide. These anodes act as inert and non-consumable electrodes, giving them an extremely long service life. Furthermore, they do not dissolve in the electrolyte even under the conditions present during electrolysis.
Platinum is an ideal anode material due to its excellent conductivity and low consumption rate. However, given its precious metal status, a cost-effective method is often used, where a thin layer of platinum is electroplated onto a highly corrosion-resistant substrate. Titanium is a commonly used anode substrate, known for its ability to form an insulating oxide film under anodic conditions.

Processing method of platinized titanium anode
The platinum coating is applied by high temperature electrolysis (HTE). Platinum is deposited from a cyanide molten salt bath at temperatures between 500 and 600°C. The resulting functional platinum layer has excellent adhesion in addition to high ductility and maximum purity. Layers with high platinum thickness, maximum corrosion resistance and excellent service life can be produced.
Refractory metals such as titanium, niobium, tantalum, molybdenum and tungsten are often used as the base material for production. However, various special steel alloys and iron/nickel alloys are also used. Expanded metal, sheet, round stock, tube, bar, strip and wire are available in a wide variety of materials and sizes. The parent materials comply with DIN and ASTM specifications.
